While Rebrandly and Dub can both be used to shorten links, Rebrandly offers more control over where your links go, deeper analytics with Conversion Tracking, enterprise-grade security, and 99.99% uptime. These advantages make Rebrandly the preferred option for businesses, while Dub is built first for companies running affiliate and partner programs.
Read on to learn more about the key differences between Rebrandly vs. Dub.
Key takeaways
- Rebrandly is a link intelligence platform for marketing teams, agencies, developers, and enterprises, while Dub pairs short links with a partner program product called Dub Partners.
- Both platforms track conversions, and Rebrandly's Conversion Tracking ties each link and QR code to sign-ups, purchases, and revenue.
- Rebrandly can route clicks by several conditions, including city, language, and time of day, and Dub routes by country and device.
- Rebrandly is SOC 2, Type II and HIPAA compliant, and Dub is SOC 2, Type II with no public mention of HIPAA.
What is Rebrandly?
Rebrandly is a link intelligence platform that turns long URLs into branded links on your own domain, then tracks every click by location, device, referrer, and time of day. It also includes dynamic QR codes and Conversion Tracking, which connects each link to the sales and sign-ups it drives.
Rebrandly has been around since 2015, and it's built for teams that create a lot of links and need control over them. That includes marketing teams running campaigns across channels, agencies managing links for clients, developers generating links through the API, and enterprises in regulated industries like healthcare and finance.
What is Dub?
Dub (often called Dub.co, after its website) is a link attribution platform that covers some of the same ground with a different goal in mind. It has two products: Dub Links, its link management product, for short links, branded domains, QR codes, and analytics, and Dub Partners for running affiliate and referral programs, including partner payouts.
When I tested and reviewed Dub, it was clear the partner side comes first. Dub Links is the foundation it's built on, and even Dub's pricing is measured in partners and payouts as well as links and clicks.
Dub is also open source, which has helped it build a following among developers and SaaS startups. Most of this comparison focuses on Dub Links, since that's the product that competes with Rebrandly directly.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Key features
Rebrandly and Dub cover the same basics, like branded domains, QR codes, and editable links, but you can see where the two diverge when it comes to details like link routing, analytics, team controls, and compliance. The table below lines them up feature by feature.

Rebrandly also has 99.99% uptime, so your links keep working when a campaign goes live.
Dub features
Dub's app has a modern design that feels aimed at SaaS and tech companies more than the average marketing team, and getting started is quick.
Dub also has a back-half generator that suggests a readable back-half for your short link (it gave me "segmented-email-wins" for an article about segmented email sends). A paid account gives you additional features like password protection, link expiration, and custom link previews.
A few parts still felt unfinished when I tested it, though:
- When I renamed a link's back-half, the old link stopped working instead of redirecting to the new one.
- Out of the box, my branded domain's homepage showed a Dub landing page with "Try Dub today" buttons, and broken links went to a Dub-branded "Link not found" page.
- The Ask AI search in analytics returned "No matching options" for "clicks from Canada this week," even though the data existed.

Get startedRebrandly vs. Dub: Routing and deep links
Those rough edges aside, one important distinction between Rebrandly and Dub is the amount of control you have over where a link points to. Both platforms offer dynamic routing, which sends people who click the same link to different destinations based on rules you set, but Rebrandly gives you more rules to work with.
With Rebrandly, you can route clicks based on:
- Country
- Region
- City
- Device
- Platform
- Language
- Date
- Day of week
- Hour of day
Dub’s link routing is limited to countries and devices.
Rebrandly’s extra dynamic routing conditions are important once your campaigns get more specific. With Rebrandly, one QR code can send French speakers to your French page, each city to its local store, or weekend visitors to a different offer, all without making a new code.
Both platforms also support deep links, which open content directly inside a mobile app (like a product page in your shopping app) instead of a mobile browser. With Rebrandly, deep linking is part of the same routing setup, so one link can open your app on a phone and your website on a laptop.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: QR codes
Dub and Rebrandly both also offer dynamic QR codes. That means you can change where a published QR code goes without creating a new one.
Every Rebrandly link comes with a QR code you can customize with your brand colors and logo, on your own branded domain. You can track scans alongside link clicks in your analytics, and track conversions as well, so you can see which QR code led to a sale.
Three Rivers Park District used Rebrandly to create and manage over 1 million QR code scans a year on trail signs. When a vendor change moved hundreds of destination URLs, the team updated them in bulk through Rebrandly's API and avoided replacing more than 300 physical signs.
Dub also includes QR codes with every link, and the free plan lets you style them (with a Dub logo in the middle). Paid plans add more customization.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Link tracking and data analytics
Whether a link gets scanned as a QR code or clicked on a website, you'll want to know how it performed. Both Rebrandly and Dub offer real-time link analytics, but Rebrandly offers a lot more in terms of depth and actionable insights.
Rebrandly reporting
Rebrandly Analytics tracks every click and scan, and breaks them down by:
- Country, region, state, and city
- Device, browser, and platform
- Language
- Time of day and clicks over time
- Referrer sources
- Unique vs. total clicks
- Bot vs. human traffic
Aggregated reporting lets you explore performance across domains, tags, and workspaces, and you can schedule reports or export data through the API. So if a campaign runs across five channels and three regions, you can see how each slice performed without stitching spreadsheets together.
Rebrandly conversion tracking
Clicks only tell you so much, so Conversion Tracking shows which of them led to sign-ups, purchases, or downloads. To set it up, you add one script to your site and pick the events that count as conversions.
From there, each link and QR code shows clicks, conversions, revenue, and drop-off in one dashboard, with an attribution window of up to 90 days. So instead of knowing a newsletter link got 100 clicks, you can see how many of those people signed up and which campaign brought in the most revenue.
For teams, Conversion Tracking also has workspace-level defaults, per-link overrides, and privacy controls. Your conversion data shows up right next to your link data, so there's no exporting CSVs to match clicks with sales.
Dub
I liked Dub's analytics dashboard (visually). Every table on the dashboard doubles as a filter, so clicking a link, country, referrer, or device narrows everything else to match, which makes it easy to go from "which link did best?" to "where did those clicks come from?"
Dub doesn't track anything other link tools don't, though, and the data was questionable. I created a brand new domain to test Dub’s links and it has tracked over 1,000 clicks even though the URL isn’t linked anywhere.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Link organization, teams, and UTMs
Good analytics depend on organized links, and that gets harder with every person you add. Both platforms give you ways to group links and share access, but they handle permissions differently.
Dub gives you tags, folders, and separate workspaces, and you can sort your link list by total clicks or by when each link was last clicked.
Rebrandly organizes everything into workspaces, where each one has its own links, domains, and analytics for a team, brand, or client. Each person gets their own login and one of five roles:
- Owner
- Administrator
- User
- Guest
- Reviewer
A Reviewer can see links and stats and leave notes but can't change anything, which works well for a manager or client who only needs to check results. Generation, a nonprofit working in 17 countries, uses that setup to run 18 Rebrandly workspaces and more than 10,000 links while each country follows the same organization-wide standards.
UTMs are the other half of keeping links consistent. They're the tags that tell tools like Google Analytics which campaign, source, and channel a click came from, and they only work if everyone writes them the same way.
Dub lets you save UTM templates and apply them in one click, but you can't add your own parameters, hide the ones your team doesn't use, or require anyone to use a template.
Rebrandly handles UTM parameters at the workspace level instead, so everyone's tags match no matter who builds the link. You can save UTM Presets, lock a parameter to a list of approved values, set defaults, and hide the parameters you don't want people touching, so nobody tags a campaign "LinkedIn" while someone else writes "li."
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Integrations
Teams rarely create links in just one place, and this is where each platform has its own edge. Rebrandly has the bigger library of app integrations, while Dub offers SDKs in more programming languages.
Rebrandly integrations
Rebrandly connects with 50+ apps, including social media management platforms, SMS tools, marketing automation software, and CRM systems. Rebrandly integrations include:
| Category | Integrations |
|---|---|
| Automation | Zapier, Bird, Make |
| Social media | SocialBee, MeetEdgar, Hootsuite |
| Productivity | Ubisend, Wufoo, Gleam |
| Communications | Slack, Bird, ReplyBuy |
View the entire list of Rebrandly integrations.
For developers, Rebrandly pairs its REST API with webhooks, developer documentation, and a Python SDK, so you can create, update, or expire links programmatically. The API is built for high volume, and Wonder Cave, a text messaging platform, uses it to generate a unique branded link for each recipient (its CTO says Rebrandly can create "more than a million links in a minute").
Rebrandly also works with AI tools. The Rebrandly MCP server and Claude connector let you create and update links or ask questions about your analytics in plain language, from tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Gemini, VS Code and others.
Dub integrations
Developers can build custom integrations with Dub's API and SDKs, which cover TypeScript, Python, Go, Ruby, and PHP. Its integrations page lists about two dozen apps, including Zapier, Make, Slack, Stripe, Shopify, HubSpot, Segment, and WordPress.
The API is available on every plan, with rate limits that grow from 60 requests a minute on Free to 3,000 on Advanced (the analytics endpoints aren't on Free). Dub also has an MCP server, which it positions for managing partner programs with an AI agent.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Security and compliance
The more tools your links connect to, the more your security team will want to know about the platform underneath. That's especially true for organizations handling sensitive customer information and first-party data.
Rebrandly
Rebrandly is SOC 2, Type II and HIPAA compliant, and it signs Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), the contract healthcare organizations need before a vendor can handle protected health information. That's why we support highly regulated industries like healthcare, finance, government, and enterprise technology, with security standards that include:
- GDPR and CCPA compliance
- Annual SOC 2, Type II audits
- Regular third-party penetration testing
- Abuse management, malware detection, and AI-powered spam detection
- Domain security and intelligence monitoring
- SAML 2.0 single sign-on and SCIM user provisioning with Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, and OneLogin
- Link expiration, password protection, and user-based permissions
Cochlear Americas, the US division of the cochlear implant maker, is a good example of what that looks like in practice. Its 60-person marketing team uses Rebrandly's branded links and QR codes across presentations, direct mail, and promotional items on its own cochlear.us domain, with the HIPAA compliance its industry requires (our guide to HIPAA compliant link shorteners covers what to look for).
Rebrandly’s security documentation, including SOC 2 reports and penetration test results, is available through the Rebrandly Trust Center.
Dub
Dub is SOC 2, Type II compliant, with SAML single sign-on and audit logs on its Enterprise plan. I couldn't find any public mention of HIPAA, so if you're in healthcare, check with Dub directly before sending patient-facing links.
Dub's Pro plan also includes link cloaking, which keeps your short link in the address bar instead of showing the destination URL. It works, but I don't recommend it in most cases, since scammers use the same trick and Google's spam policies treat hidden destinations as sneaky redirects.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Affiliate and partner programs
Security is one area where Rebrandly pulls ahead, and partner programs are where Dub does. If paying affiliates, creators, or referral partners is central to how you grow, Dub Partners is built for exactly that.
Dub Partners handles partner links, commissions, and payouts in one place, on top of the same links and analytics as Dub Links. It's the main reason I'd recommend Dub to anyone.
Rebrandly doesn't run partner payouts, since it's focused on your own campaigns. But if you just need to give each partner their own branded link and see which ones drive sign-ups and revenue, Rebrandly's Conversion Tracking can do that without a separate partner product.
For more options built around partner programs or other use cases, our list of Dub alternatives matches each tool to the kind of team it suits.
Rebrandly vs. Dub: Pricing
Both platforms have free and paid plans. The prices below are billed annually (both also offer monthly subscriptions):

Rebrandly vs. Dub: Which should you choose?
Price is one part of the decision, and what you need your links to do is the other.
Choose Rebrandly if:
- You need to show which links and QR codes brought in revenue
- You route traffic by city, language, or time, or you need deep links as part of your routing
- More than one person creates links, and you need roles, workspaces, and consistent UTMs
- You work in a regulated industry like healthcare or finance and need a compliance-minded URL shortener
- You send links by SMS at high volume, or you generate links through an API
- You want a link-in-bio page on your own domain
Choose Dub if:
- You run an affiliate or partner program and want payouts in the same tool as your links
- You're a SaaS or tech startup that wants an open-source, developer-friendly tool
How to switch from Dub to Rebrandly
If you already use Dub, moving to Rebrandly is mostly about getting your links and your domain across without breaking anything. Links on a domain you own keep working once that domain points to Rebrandly, so do these steps in order:
- Export the links you want to move from Dub as a CSV file. Your file needs two columns, the branded short link and its destination URL. Rebrandly will import multiple short links with the same destination URL, but it can't import duplicates of the same branded link.
- Add your domain to your Rebrandly account, but skip the DNS update for now so your links keep working on Dub. You can add the domain without affecting your current setup and update the settings later.
- Upload the CSV to create all your links in Rebrandly at once.
- Point your domain's DNS to Rebrandly's servers. DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours. During that time, your links keep working, and some visitors reach Dub while others reach Rebrandly until the switch finishes.
- Add tags, workspaces, and other details to your imported links.
If your branded domain is the free .link domain Dub registered for you, check with Dub first about transferring it, since your links only move with the domain. You can find detailed steps in our migration guide, and larger accounts can work with our team to plan the migration.
Dub is built for partner programs, and Rebrandly is built for your links
Dub earns its spot if affiliates and partners drive your growth. Outside of that, its link features are fairly standard.
When evaluating link management tools or URL shorteners, Rebrandly is a comprehensive solution for businesses, agencies, and developers requiring advanced security, complete data ownership, and powerful analytics capabilities.

Frequently asked questions about Rebrandly vs. Dub
Which is better for SMS marketing, Rebrandly or Dub?
Rebrandly is the better fit for SMS, since every message can carry a branded link on your own domain. Links on a domain you own are less likely to get caught in carrier filters, and Rebrandly for SMS adds Real-Time Link Validation to catch risky links before a message goes out.
Is Rebrandly or Dub better for larger companies?
Rebrandly is usually the better fit for larger companies, especially ones with several teams, brands, or regions creating links. Separate workspaces and user roles keep each team's links and data apart, SAML single sign-on and SCIM provisioning connect to tools like Okta and Microsoft Entra ID, and HIPAA compliance with signed BAAs covers regulated industries. Dub offers SAML single sign-on and audit logs on its Enterprise plan, which can work for a larger company that mainly needs to run a partner program at scale.
What are the best Dub alternatives?
It depends on what you need Dub for. If you mainly need link management, Rebrandly is the best overall Dub alternative for businesses, and our guide to Dub.co alternatives compares the other options by use case.
